About Us

Sheer Luck Stables is a small hobby farm smack dab between Lake Michigan and Grand Rapids.  We enjoy racing Thoroughbreds and Quarter horses, and have been fortunate enough to have bred 4 GLQHA chart book champions, 1 reserve champion, and even a AQHA Central highpoint 3 year old stallion and aged stallion.  All these talented siblings originating from our foundation  broodmare Miss Sheer Luck.  Many of these outstanding horses have gone on to very successful careers in the barrel racing arena.

Our farm is also the home of Briarton English Springer Spaniels.  I started showing and breeding springers with the guidence of my mentor and co-breeder Mona Irvine in 1985.  Mona had been breeding springers for over 20 years when we met and her knowlege, friendship, and love of the breed has been invaluable to me throughout the years.  We strive with every breeding to improve and or maintain the health, type, and temperment of our dogs.  Our dogs excell in the breed ring, obedience, rally, tracking, agility, and hunting as well as making great house pets and therapy dogs.  We are long time members of the ESSFTA, and we agree with and follow the ESSFTA breeders code of ethics.  We encourage our puppy buyers to stay in contact, ask questions, and please let us know if they experience any problems with health or temperament for the lifetime of their Briarton dog.  We strive to place the right puppy in the right home so please don't be offended by all the questions we may ask.   We believe buying a puppy is a lifetime commitment, selling one should be too!
